Okay, truth be told, I may be falling for Pacey Scott. I was doing really well until he walked out of the house looking like an absolute dream.

When Pace dresses up, his demeanor instantly changes. His hidden powers of adultness seep out and he rocks the confident grown-man look.

Today is no exception.

Strolling out of the house looking like he totally owns it, he seems like he could conquer the world—and me with it. In fact, he’s conquering my panties right now. I close my mouth and pick imaginary fluff off of my cotton summer dress.

No man has ever looked sexier in cargo shorts, a crisp blue shirt and a backwards cap. What is it about American frat boys and backwards caps? I’m going to be honest. It does things to my insides that are probably illegal in southern Spain. They’re very religious here, and my mind is imagining all the things I would do with that man and his starched shirts.

He glances over nonchalantly, catching me gaping. He winks at me salaciously. Fuck him, I swear he doing it on purpose. The incident in the shower yesterday has boosted his confidence. He knows he has me, and he knows I can do nothing about it.

I could really do with not falling in love with Pacey Scott.

The driver takes us to a ferry where we take a private boat that whisks us over to another island. There are live volcanoes on Isla del Fuego—hot, bubbling molten-lava-type volcanoes. Apparently we’re heading for a restaurant where they grill food with the aforementioned fiery liquid rock.

I’m looking forward to it. It’s nice to get out and away from the pressure of the house and of keeping up appearances all the time.

Dan is fast asleep next to me, his head back, gentle snores coming from his mouth. He is devastatingly handsome, I’ll give him that. Even after a night of debauchery with several other people, he still looks like a Greek god.

I peer over at Pace, who hasn’t spoken to me since our gazes crossed in my bedroom this morning. Is he hurting? Is he sad about what he thinks he saw?

The record needs to be set straight. It’s not that, you know, I need him to think that I’m still available or anything. I just need him to know that I didn’t lie. I’m not a lying liar who says one thing and does another…or his brother. He needs to know that I didn’t do his brother. I need to get him alone to set things straight.

The driver parks and we are informed that there is a short bus tour which will take us to the restaurant. Everybody else is piling on to public, shared coaches, but it appears we have a small bus all to ourselves. I don’t like to think about how much all this costs. Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t have a huge amount of disposable income. Well, I do, but it’s tied up in investments and foundations and things like that.
